The Muslims had migrated from Makkah to Madina which was known as the Hijra. The Muslims who came to Madina were known as the Muhajirun and the Muslims who welcomed them into Madina were known a the Ansar.
A long time had passed in Madina and no children were born from the Muslims, the unbelievers of Madina used to say that they had cursed the Muslims so they will not have any children. There were a few children that were born but they passed away shortly after their birth.
Then one day there were cries of Allahu Akbar throughout Madina with the birth of a child from the lady Asma. There was great celebration as the overjoyed Abu Bakr held his beloved grandchild in his arms. The prophet (pbuh) was very pleased. He held Abdullah ibn Zubair in his arms and made dua for him.
Abdullah dedicated his whole life to Islam by learning and practicing Islam. He was known for some great qualities which he possessed. His deep love for worshipping and Salah. He was very brave and courageous and he was very well spoken (eloquent). He was also very obedient to his parents.
A time came when Makkah was under attack from hostile forces. Abdullah showed so much gallantry and bravery unlike anyone else. He fought off the attackers with whatever means he had. All his companions slowly left him and he was surrounded from all sides by his enemies. He still remained strong to the truth and defended Makkah until there was only a handful of them left.
His life is an example to us all. It shows that whatever we do we should give our best effort and always do what is good and right. |
