Assalamualaykum
Yesterday I arrived home twenty minutes late from school. My mum asked me where I was for so long. She said she was worried sick and my dad was out looking for me.
I told my mum it wasn’t my fault, it was Amina’s fault. But my mum insisted how can it be your sisters fault when she arrived on time.
I said to my mum, “You told me to bring Amina home everyday after school. I waited for her but she never came.”
My mum asked Amina, “How did you come home today?” she said, “I came home with one of my friends.”
My mum said, “Look at all the problems you caused. All you had to do was ask. That way Penpal would have been home on time and your dad wouldn’t be out looking for him.”
At least I know Amina won’t do that again. PP
 | Lesson - Getting Permission | |
Some people don’t think getting permission is important. However, it is so important that even the Muslim rulers and scholars would take permission first.
When we go anywhere we should always get permission from our parents. We should also inform them before we go so that they do not worry about us. Our parents love us and care about us very much.
When we borrow or take something, we should ask for permission from the person who it belongs to. If we take something without getting permission first then Allah will ask us about this on the day of Judgement.
So be aware and don't take anything without permission. Always get permission from your parents before going out and also get permission from your teachers before leaving.

 | Story - Honey Medication | |
Umar ibn Khattab became the second Khalifah after Abu Bakr had passed away. Umar had been one of the most knowledgeable companions of Muhammad r.
Under Abu Bakr, the Muslim world had expanded and people were beginning to accept Islam from different parts of the world. Umar continued to expand the empire as people saw the beauty and Justice of Islam and began to accept it.
Islam became a huge super power with the other powers, Persians and Byzantine Roman empires, crumbling before them. Islam was spreading so quick that the Muslim empire had become vast.
History records this as a golden age of Islam and this was achieved under the leadership of Umar. Umar established cities in the desert where Islam was followed with justice and fairness: hospitals and schools were constructed; welfare systems were setup to help the poor and needy; justice systems were setup where people could go to court and expect justice and fairness; prison and police were established to maintain law and order; centres for Islamic learning were setup to teach Islam and sciences with some of the finest and most respected teachers; canals and lakes were dug to irrigate and cultivate desert lands.
Umar was the leader of this civilisation, one of the most powerful men alive on the Earth at that time. When Umar became ill, he went to see the Hakim (doctor) who told him that he needed to take honey as part of his medication. Unfortunately, Umar did not have any honey but the 'baitul maal' had lots of honey.
The baitul maal was a place where the money and wealth were kept and spent on running the affairs of the Empire. However, even though Umar was the leader, he could not take the honey without getting permission. Umar called a meeting of the 'Shura' and asked if he could get some honey. Only when the Shura said yes did Umar take some honey from the baitul maal.
