 | My Story - Amina's Packed Lunch | |
Assalamu-alaykum, Everyone. How are you today?
My mum and I went shopping earlier. The town was so busy and there were queues everywhere.
My mum said, "Amina, go and choose a sweet for your packed lunch." I rushed over and grabbed a packet of my favourite juicy sweets and took them to the checkouts.
When we got to the front of the queue, my mum noticed the sweets and told me to put them back and pick something else!"
My mum explained to me on the way home that they was made with gelatine which is often haram! I was gutted because I loved those sweets so much. My mum said Allah will give you better things in Jannah.
Insha'Allah, I will always check what I eat now on and only eat Halal foods! Amina
 | Lesson - Halal and Haram | |
Allah has put many things on this earth for human beings to eat and drink. These things are in two main categories called Halal and Haram.
Halal things are good for us and Allah has commanded us to only eat from Halal provisions. Allah has also told us to avoid all Haram things. Therefore we must always check that the things we eat and the things we do are all Halal.
There is also a third category which contains things which are doubtful. Although we may not be sure if these things are Halal, we should still avoid them.
If we avoid all the doubtful things, Allah will reward us immensely for it. If we follow the advise Allah gave us we will be successful in this life and the next.

 | Story - Halal Only | |
Abu Bakr was a great Sahabi who was also a dear friend of the Prophet (pbuh). Abu Bakr was known for his kind and gentle nature. He was very pious and loved Islam. He was very just and people would always turn to him for advice. He became the leader of the Muslims after the Prophet (pbuh) passed away.
Abu Bakr had a servant who was also a good friend. This servant would bring him some food with the money he had earned and Abu Bakr would eat it.
One day, the servant brought some food and Abu Bakr ate it as usual. The servant asked Abu Bakr if he knew where the servant had got this food from. Abu Bakr did not know so the servant started telling him the story.
In the days before Islam, the servant would sometimes do fortune telling for people and they would pay him money or give him gifts for it. This would bring him a little extra income.
That morning, the servant met a man who remembered him for telling his future. The man gave him some food as a gift for services in the past. This was the same food that the servant gave Abu Bakr to eat.
Abu Bakr immediately spat out the food he had in his mouth and also vomited whatever he had eaten from that food.
Islam had made fortune telling haram and any money earned from haram activity is also haram. Abu Bakr did not want any of this haram food to enter his body. He did not want to disobey Allah so avoided all haram and doubtful food

Assalamu-alaykum, sometimes we love things, especially sweets, which we later find to be haram or doubtful. This is the case with jelly sweets. They often don't have the full ingredients and may be Haram. Its really tough but they must also be avoided! PenPal
