 | My story: The dinenr party | |
Assalamu-alaykum,Amigos.
We went to my friends house for supper. They were
making a special meal for our whole family so we wore our best clothes.
They had a huge spread of food and it smelled delicious.
When it was time to eat, Amina filled
her plate with all the different kinds of food.
I asked her, “Are you sure you will finish all that food?”
She said, “Yeah, yeah and helped herself to another two kebabs!”
After a few minutes had passed, ”Amina said, “I can’t eat any more!” She had hardly touched her food.
My friends mum asked Amina, “What’s wrong is the food too spicy?”
Amina said, “No. I’m not hungry anymore.” She said, “You should not waste food.”
Amina went bright red like a tomato. Poor Amina. Penpal
 | lesson: don’t waste food | |
Allah has given us many blessings for which we must continuously thank Him. Allah has
given some people more and some people less.
If Allah has given us something, like an abundance of wealth or food, we must be careful to use it in a way which will please Him. If
we waste our wealth or food then Allah will not be pleased.
On the day of Judgement, we will need to account for all these blessings and how we used them. If we wasted food whilst
so many people are starving in the world then what will we say to Allah?
Do you know that some people in the world are so poor and hungry that they are forced to eat leaves and
grass. They are forced to drink water from puddles. Never waste any food and always thank Allah for whatever he has given you.

 | story: Hunger and suffering | |
As Hisham bin Amr approached the Sha’b Abi Talib, he could hear the Muslim children crying.
They were not crying because they were sad but because they were so hungry. When Hisham heard the crying it made him feel very sad.
The Makkans had decided to boycott the
Muslims and made sure that no one would sell them food or do any business with them. All the Muslims had moved to the valley of Abu Talib in Makkah. Here they lived together and were now
suffering very much.
The Makkans were continuously on the look out for people trying to do business with the Muslims. If they saw a merchant trying to sell anything to the Muslims,
they would pay huge amounts of money so that the Muslims wouldn’t get anything.
Sometimes, late at night, some people would smuggle food into the valley and give it to their
relatives and friends. This small amount of food was appreciated by the Muslims and they would share it.
Most often the Muslims would have to eat the leaves of trees to survive.
Hashim decided that he had to change the condition of the Muslims and would talk to the Makkans. Hashim went to the Ka’bah and talked to other people who had similar concern for the
Muslims.
The Makkans had made a treaty amongst themselves and all the tribe leaders had signed it. This signed document had then been hung in the Ka’bah. All the Makkans
refused to lift the boycott because of this treaty.
Allah caused some ants to eat the treaty and when the Makkans were forced to check it, they were shocked to see that only the first
few words of the documents were left. The Makkans then lifted the boycott and finally, after almost two years, the suffering of the Muslims was over.

Muslims developed hospitals where people from all backgrounds could get treated. They
would also train doctors in these centres and provide excellent medical care.
During this time, Europe was still in the dark ages. They still cured headaches by drilling holes in the
head of to the patient to let evil spirits out.

Assalamu-alaykum, we have probably never suffered hunger, real hunger. In Ramadhan, we
feel some hunger and we appreciate the suffering of those who have no food. We must always remember those less well off than us and always be grateful for what we have. PP

Food is something you shouldn’t waste Even if you don't like the taste.
About the poor you
should always think
And don't waste any food or drink
Only eat and drink what you need Taking too much is called greed
Eat it, taste it - But don't waste it
 | footsteps: follow the sunnah | |
The Prophet (pbuh) would not waste anything, not even a drop of water.
